There’s something deeply appealing about a building that’s already lived a life before becoming a home, don't you think? You can feel it here straight away. This was once a working barn in southern Sweden, built for purpose rather than beauty, and yet that original honesty is exactly what makes it so beautiful! Therese and Marcus saw beyond what it was and recognised what it could become, not by erasing its past, but by working with it.

Inside, the old structure still takes centre stage. The soaring ceiling, weathered beams and generous open space give the rooms a sense of calm and character. True to Swedish  country style, nothing feels over designed or overly polished. Instead, natural materials such as stone, wood and linen, soft light, simple furnishings and relaxed open shelving let the building’s history remain at the heart of everything.

Serene, natural and relaxed. I can't even begin to imagine how much work Therese and Marcus have put into renovating this space and transforming it into a beautiful home.

In moments like this, nothing lifts my spirits more than dreaming of summer—when I think Sweden shows its finest side.  A few summers ago, my family and I went on a sailing trip up the east coast of Sweden. Halfway through, we almost abandoned ship due to bad weather. We had two choices: leave the boat where it was and come back for it once the wind had died down and the sun reappeared, or turn the trip into an exciting adventure and set sail for the Baltic island of Gotland. We chose the latter, and it became a journey I'll never forget ( see my guide ). A Beautiful Midsummer's Eve Table - Home Design Ideas

Welcome to Home Design Ideas . Today we will share for you about A Beautiful Midsummer's Eve Table. On Friday it's time for one of the biggest celebrations in Sweden - Midsummer's Eve. It's an event so entrenched in the Swedish culture that it's considered as important as Christmas. It's become my favourite celebration of the year. Put simply, it's magical. Think crowns weaved from wildflowers, dancing around a maypole and playing silly games. Tables are laden with a spread of pickled herrings, new potatoes, quiches, boiled eggs, sour cream, dill, salmon, strawberries, and crisp bread, washed down with beer and schnapps. It's a day spent outdoors no matter the weather (thankfully it looks like the sun will be shining on Friday!) and a time for friends and families to come together and chat and sing and dance under the midnight sun.  Why not join the celebrations from afar?
